Women's T20WC 2020: "Don't blame a clown for acting like a clown", posts Sana Mir after being axed from Pakistan squad

The Pakistan T20 World Cup side will be led by Bismah Maroof.

Sana Mir | GETTY The veteran Pakistan women's cricketer Sana Mir has been left out of the 15-player squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Pakistan team will be led by Bismah Maroof. 

Pakistan recently lost the T20I series against England by 3-0 last year in December. The selectors have left out Nahida Khan and Ayesha Zafar and offspinner Rameen Shamim from the squad too.

The former Pakistan captain, Sana was very upset after being snubbed from an important tournament. The 34-year-old took to Twitter and expressed her disappointment.

"Don't blame a clown for acting like a clown. Ask yourself why you keep going to the circus", wrote Sana on Twitter.

Urooj Mumtaz, the chair of the national women's selection committee backed the Pakistan T20 World Cup side to do well. "Though Sana Mir doesn't feature in the 15-player line-up, I believe we still have the desired experience in the squad.

"Sana has been a phenomenal servant of Pakistan cricket while being an inspiration to many girls out there. Unfortunately, her recent performances in the T20 format were not on her side."

Pakistan will depart for Australia on January 31 and will play three warm-up matches against the West Indies on February 7, 9 and 11.

Pakistan squad: Bismah Maroof (c), Javeria Khan, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Nida Dar, Aimen Anwar, Muneeba Ali, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Anam Amin, Iram Javed, Syeda Aroob Shah.
