Stuart Broad has on Tuesday (July 20) made a bold prediction for England after the hosts won the T20I series 2-1 against Pakistan, saying the Eoin Morgan-led team is on course to lift the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 later this year.

England thrashed Pakistan in the final T20I by three wickets at Old Trafford on Tuesday to seal a 2-1 T20I series and Broad – who was part of Sky Sports' commentary team for the T20I series – feels they have got so many bases covered and are favorite to lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

Broad said after the final T20I against Pakistan: “I was just watching Morgs lift the trophy there and I think we're going to win the World Cup. We've got so many bases covered. We've got so much depth, they play fearless cricket, and I just think we're going to win the World Cup. It's all looking pretty rosy.”

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were not part of the T20I series against Pakistan and Broad said: “Stokes comes into this team, although I don't know where he bats, and I think Archer will be an amazing addition. We didn't take early wickets in the powerplay in the Pakistan series so I would bowl Archer three overs in the powerplay as you've got Chris Jordan who can bowl at the death.”

The recently concluded T20I series against Pakistan saw a number of new players step up, including Player of the Series Liam Livingstone and Broad was impressed by the depth available for England ahead of the T20 World Cup to be held in the UAE and Oman later this year.

Broad signed off by saying, “If suddenly you are getting Livingstone batting at No 7, Sam Curran - who swings the white ball and is a dangerous lower-order hitter - at No. 8, Chris Jordan at No. 9, Adil Rashid at No. 10, you have got so much depth there. They play fearless cricket as well so it just feels like we are going to win the World Cup.”
