Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist, on Wednesday (November 6), said “T20 cricket is a bit of lottery” and that makes it hard to predict the winner of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2020, but went on to name India as favorites for the coveted trophy next year in Australia.

He further went on to pick the hosts and his country – Australia along with the World Cup champions England and New Zealand as the semifinalists for the 2020 World T20.

The Aussie legend also mentioned that the No.1 ranked T20I side Pakistan can be counted but insisted that it is hard to predict anything in the shortest format of the game.

Gilchrist said at a promotional event in Mumbai, “Probably they (India) will be featuring in semi-finals and the finals. I can't predict who is going to win but I suspect that the usual suspects like India, England, Australia, and New Zealand will probably make a long way, semi-finals of course.”

He signed off by saying, “Pakistan is No.1 ranked team in the format, so you cannot rule them out. But T20 cricket is a bit of lottery so it is hard to predict the winner until the final runs are scored or wickets are taken.”

Noteworthy, the teams will be competing in 45 matches in the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup which will be held in Australia from 18 October to 15 November 2020.
