ICC T20 WCQ 2019: Hong Kong ends Canada’s unbeaten run with a convincing 32-run victory

Hong Kong posted 150/7 in 20 overs and restricted Canada to 118/9.

Hong Kong and Canada faced each other in the 29th Group B encounter of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 in Dubai on Thursday (October 24).

Opting to bat first, Hong Kong rode on Kinchit Shah’s 48-ball 59 not out to post 150/7 in 20 overs. Waqas Barkat also made a decent contribution of 27 in 23 deliveries.

All the Canadian bowlers used by captain Navneet Dhaliwal claimed one wicket each. Nitish Kumar was the best in terms of economy-rate as he conceded just 18 runs in his stipulated 4 overs.

Chasing the target, some of the Canada batsmen got start but failed to convert it into a half-century. Rizwan Cheema was the top-scorer with 19-ball 20.

On the other hand, Hong Kong bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Nasrulla Rana (3/25) and Kyle Christie (2/23) were the stand-out performers with the ball.

Haroon Arshad (1/4) and Aizaz Khan (1/30) also claimed wicket apiece as Hong Kong eventually restricted Canada to 118/9 in 20 overs, registering a comprehensive 32-run victory.
