A stiff back forced Indian skipper Virat Kohli to sit out from the third T20I between India and South Africa. The third T20I could have been a memorable one for Kohli as he was just 17 short of his 2000th T20I run. India was led by Rohit Sharma in the series decider.

“Virat (Kohli) has a stiff back and he needs some rest. It has been a long season for him and unfortunately he misses out but gives someone else a chance to step up,” Rohit Sharma had said after the toss.

Despite missing the last game of the South African tour, Virat still found something for him when India was battling on the field. He gave Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan a head massage. He was spotted giving a massage in the last over of the first innings.

India was put in to bat after South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl. The tourists piled up 172 runs thanks to a couple of 40s; 43 by Suresh Raina and 47 by Dhawan. It helped India to win the series after bowlers did equally well to keep the Proteas 7 runs short.

Virat led the team from the front in South Africa and was the highest run-getter in the three-match Test series (286 runs) and six-match ODI series (558 runs).
