MS Dhoni stormed a 27-ball half century against South Africa in the 2nd T20I. Dhoni's second T20I fifty might not have given India an unassailable lead in the 3-match T20I series; but it surely gave the Indian team management a sigh of relief.

Dhoni was having a tough time in the shorter format and the veteran was asked to justify his place in the team over and over. His innings not only helped Dhoni to gain confidence, it also restored the faith of team management in him.

The 36-year-old was lauded by the former India skipper Sourav Ganguly. Extolling Dhoni's 28-ball 52, he said, "MS Dhoni was brilliant and batted superbly. I have always said he needs deliveries under his belt to play well and once again he showed it."

This was only second T20I fifty of Dhoni and Ganguly was surprised with it.

"Only second fifty in the T20I surprises me. For someone who has played so much cricket from 2007; that's when the T20 cricket came in and this is 2018. 11 years and he just got 2 T20I fifty."

He also shared the reason behind just two T20I fifty in his illustrious career. "The reason is because he bats so much down the order. There are times when Dhoni got only 3-4 overs to bat. Hopefully, he will get a few more deliveries in the next matches and he will be very, very dangerous," Ganguly added.

India and South Africa will clash in the series decider on 24th February at Cape Town.
