South Africa skipper –Faf du Plessis, who is currently sidelined from the ongoing T20 International series against India with a broken finger, has lauded his team's outstanding show in the second T20I which they won by 6-wicket and levelled the three-match series 1-1 on Wednesday.

On Wednesday (21 February), South African were seen fantastic in all departments, winning the toss and opting to bowl first.  Indian batsman Manish Pandey (*79*) and wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni  (52*) tried well to counter the Proteas bowlers and successfully scored  188 after their 20 overs. 

In reply, JP Duminy (64 off 40 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (69 off 30 balls) helped South Africa to chase down the target in just 18.4 overs and register a crucial 6 wickets win against India to level the three-match series 1-1 in Centurion.

Impressing with South African team’s clinical performance against high-flying India, Plessis went on social media to laud Duminy, Klaasen and Junior Lala, who took 2 wickets on his T20 debut for the Proteas, hoping to see another match-winning show from the hosts in the series decider.

Final of the T20I series will be played on 24 February in Cape Town, and du Plessis wants his team to bring the confidence to the series decider and clinch the series after ODI series defeat.

Du Plessis wrote on his official Twitter handle, “Great character shown by a young protea team.well batted @jpduminy21 and @Heini22 .enjoyed @JDala3 bowling aswell.bring on the series decider ????????????”

However,  Du Plessis has returned to the training ground to prove his fitness ahead of the four-match Test series against Australia, starting from 1 March at home.

According to a press release from Cricket South Africa on Tuesday, Team manager Mohammed Moosajee said of Plessis, "He will start batting tomorrow and we are hopeful he will come through that and be available to captain the team for the first test against Australia.”
