India continued their rampaging form in the limited overs cricket with a convincing win over South Africa in the first T20I of the three match series. The win at Wanderers has given the visitors a very crucial 1-0 head up in the series. Certainly, they managed to tick all their boxes right on the day. The batsmen contributed with the bat and the bowlers were up to the mark. A depleted South Africa would come hard at India in the second T20I at Centurion on Wednesday to level the three-match T20I series. South Africa have lost the services of AB de Villiers due to injury, but the new-look Proteas would look to restore parity in the series. India would like to carry on the winning momentum and wrap up the T20I series as well. India will start favorite as they look more in control of their game now. South Africa have a young and inexperienced team and can put up a better show in the second T20I as nothing can be predicted in this format.

Best economical pick – Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the Player of the Match for India in the first game. It was his five-wicket haul that set the tone for the Indian win. Bhuvneshwar finished with his career best figures of 5/24 in 4 overs in the first T20I.

Top captains & vice captains – Virat Kohli seemed to have carried his good form of the ODI series in the T20Is as well. However, he failed to make it big in the first game. Shikhar Dhawan was the star of the show for the Indian team with the bat in the match. Dhawan anchored the knock with utmost perfection in the game. He never let the tempo of the run flow go down for the Indian team in the match. He scored a brilliant 72 off just 39 deliveries. His knock was studded with 10 fours and a couple of sixes.

Smart pick – Reeza Hendricks opened the innings for South Africa and was expected to lay a foundation for a stupendous run-chase. He started off with some blistering shots to kick-start proceedings for South Africa. He scored 70 runs off 50 balls. However, he perished to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s brilliance in the death overs.

Cautious Pick – As team India entered the T20I series, their veteran star MS Dhoni was certainly under some tremendous pressure to perform. In the ODIs, he had failed to give the final flourish to the Indian side. Well, Dhoni was largely a disappointment in the 1st T20I as well. He could only score 16 in this game and could not get the big ones going.

My XI – Virat Kohli (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan (Vice-Captain), Kuldeep Yadav, Y Chahal, Chris Morris, Heinrich Klaasen, JJ Smuts, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, B Kumar, Reeza Hendricks
