After clinching the six-match ODI series by a stunning margin of 5-1, Team India started the three-match T20I series against South Africa in a fine fashion. The Men in Blue registered a comprehensive 28-run victory in the first Twenty-20 international at Johannesburg on Sunday (February 18).
Virat Kohli and company were clinical throughout the ODI series, be it with the bat, ball or the banter. And now they are carrying their similar style of play in the shortest format as well. Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who didn’t participate in Johannesburg T20I due to a finger injury, was seen mocking his opposite counterpart Tabraiz Shamsi from the dug out.
The incident took place during the 19th over of South African innings when the hosts were 8 wickets down for 168 while chasing India’s target of 204. Shamsi was all padded up in the dugout waiting for his turn to come to the crease when the cameraman caught Kuldeep laughing and signalling that Shamsi would hit it a maximum if he goes out to bat.
It is not the first time that Shamsi has been in the receiving end of Indian players’ sledge. During the recently concluded ODI series, India skipper Virat Kohli was seen having a go at the Proteas spinner.
“Chest pad? Shammo (Shamsi), you have a chest pad on?,” stump mic. had caught Kohli giving it back to Shamsi in the 5th ODI at Port Elizabeth
