Virender Sehwag feels MS Dhoni isn't ideal to bat low in the order

There have been support for Dhoni to bat up the higher.

Virender Sehwag has backed MS Dhoni to play up in the order. The former India cricketer thinks it is high time Indian skipper Virat Kohli should try finding a new finisher for the team.

"I believe, there's still a scope of improvement in India's middle-order batting line-up. MS Dhoni should play up the order," Sehwag told India TV.

"I think, Kohli fears that if Dhoni comes at No 4 and loses his wicket early then there won't be anyone on the finishing spot. But Kohli should send him up the order and hand the finisher's role to Manish Pandey or Hardik Pandya or Kedar Jadhav," he added.

Dhoni has faced criticism for his inconsistent batting performance lower down the order. The 36-year-old was once considered as the best finisher in the world; but his big hitting abilities have now deserted him and he prefers to take singles and doubles, leaving the big hitting to others.

It will be interesting to see at which position Dhoni bats for India in the T20I series.

India will play a T20I series against South Africa and Sehwag thinks the hosts will be looking for a strong comeback after suffering defeat in ODI series. India had crushed South Africa in ODIs by a margin of 5-1 and will be looking to seal the T20I series too.

The Proteas will be led by JP Duminy in the 20-over series. The first T20I match is set to be played at Wanderers in Johannesburg on 18th February.
