At the start of 2017 when England toured India for a limited-overs series comprising of 3 ODIs and as many T20Is, MS Dhoni had decided to pass the captaincy baton to already established Test skipper Virat Kohli. Since then Team India under Kohli are doing wonders across all formats of the game.

Despite India’s stellar show in the ongoing six-match ODI series against South Africa, Dhoni’s performances in limited-overs cricket often become the talk of the town. While a certain section of cricket lovers admire his commitment to fight it out in the middle, other group criticize him for being too cautious.

After India’s 5-wicket defeat in the fourth ODI against South Africa at Wanderers, there were questions being raised over Dhoni’s turtle-paced innings (42 runs off 43 balls). Moreover, Dhoni’s 17-ball 13 in the fifth ODI at Port Elizabeth added fuel to the fire with some fans questioning the place of the veteran wicketkeeper in the team.

In fact, one of the fans asked former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra whether the 36-year-old glovesman should hang up his boots.

"Dhoni should retire sir. What's your take on this sir. @cricketaakash," the fan wrote by tagging Aakash Chopra’s official Twitter account.

Chopra, who is widely deemed as one of the best cricket analysts, gave a befitting reply to the fan by writing: "Nobody has the right to tell anyone when to retire. I repeat...nobody. #Dhoni".

Dhoni may have faced a downfall in the recent time, but still has a lot to deliver. In 2017, the Jharkhand man has scored 788 ODI runs at an average of 60.61 with 1 ton and 6 fifties.
