Team India under the leadership of Virat Kohli are doing wonders of late, be it in Test cricket or limited-overs format and now they achieved yet another incredible feat. The Men in Blue stormed into the pinnacle of ICC ODI Rankings after securing their first ever ODI series win on South African soil last night.

India’s 73-run victory against the Proteas in the fifth ODI at St George's Park, Port Elizabeth on Tuesday (February 13), also confirmed that Virat Kohli’s side will stay on top of the table irrespective of the outcome of final ODI, slated to be held in Centurion on February 16.

Team India had entered into the six-match ODI series with 119 rating points to their name, two points behind table topper South Africa. However, the unassailable 4-1 lead in the ODI series raised India’s points tally to 122 whereas South Africa have lost 3 points to be at 118.

With four thumping victories against the Proteas in their own turf, the Men in Blue have also ensured that they will remain No.1 in ICC ODI rankings with 121 points even if they suffer a defeat on Friday. Moreover, if Virat Kohli and company win the series 5-1 then they will gain one more point to finish on 123 points.

On the other hand, Eoin Morgan led England ODI team are scheduled to play 5-match ODI series against the Kiwis from February 25. If the visiting English team will beat New Zealand by 5-0, then they will seal the No.2 spot, with South Africa slipping to third.

Interestingly, India are also the number one ranked Test side with 121 rating points (6 ahead of South Africa) while they are placed at No. 3 in ICC T20I rankings with 121 rating points, behind New Zealand (122 points) and Pakistan (126 points).
