South Africa faced India in the second ODI of the six match series in the Supersport Park in Centurion, looking to make amends for their loss in the first ODI.

South Africa came into this match without two of their batting giants in AB de Villiers and captain Faf du Plessis, both of whom are injured. Du Plessis was ruled out of the ODI and T20I series with a broken finger; while AB de Villiers might join the team for the fourth ‘Pink’ ODI.

Virat Kohli won the toss and put new captain Aiden Markram and South Africa into bat. Amla (23) and De Kock (20) started off cautiously and gradually started to look in command. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had Amla out, knicking behind to Dhoni. Amla opted for a review, but replays confirmed the edge and South Africa lost the review.

De Kock was removed by Chahal, caught by Pandya and then Kuldeep had Markram caught at the boundary by Bhuvneshwar for 8 off the first ball of the following over for 8 and then had Miller caught for a duck.

Reeling at 51/4, Duminy (25) and Khaya Zondo (25) added 48 important runs for the 5th wicket, before Zondo was caught off Chahal and then Duminy was caught LBW, again off Chahal.

The spin twins shared 8 wickets amongst themselves and Kuldeep ended up with figures of 3/20 in 6 overs, while Chahal picked his first 5 wicket haul in ODIs, ending up with 5/22 in 8.2 overs.

South Africa was bundled out for 118 runs, the lowest score at the Supersport Park.

India came out to bat and started their chase with aggression. Rohit Sharma hit 2 fours and a six in his 15 runs, when he was caught off a top edge off Rabada by Morkel. However, after that, Dhawan and Kohli took matters into their own hands and went after the Proteas spinners.

The duo of Dhawan and Kohli added an unbeaten 93 runs for the second wicket and took the team to a 9-wicket win.
