SA v IND 2018: South Africa names Aiden Markram stand-in captain for remainder of ODI and T20I series

Faf du Plessis suffered from a fractured finger and was ruled out fo the remainder of the series.

Aiden Markram will lead South Africa in the rest of the limited overs series against India

With Faf du Plessis out of the remainder of the ODI series and the following T20I series due to a fractured finger, South Africa were in conundrum of who will lead them in the coming matches.

AB de Villiers was also out of the team for the first three matches and with Hashim Amla reluctant to become captain, South Africa cricket has named young Aiden Markram as the captain of the Proteas team for the remainder of the ODI series and the upcoming T20I series.

Aiden Markram was brought into the side as a cover for AB de Villiers, who had hurt his finger during the last Test between South Africa and India. Markram couldn’t do much in the first ODI, scoring just 9 runs before Chahal had him caught by Pandya.

There were speculations that either Amla or JP Duminy will be asked to captain the South African team in Du Plessis’ absence; but the CSA have made it clear that the Proteas are looking for the future and have given the responsibility of leading the team to Aiden Markram.
