India skipper Virat Kohli put on yet another batting exhibition while chasing a target in the first ODI against South Africa in Durban on Thursday (February 1). Kohli recorded his 33rd ODI ton (112 off 119 balls) in reply to South Africa’s total of 269 as India achieved the target with 6 wickets in hand and 27 balls to spare.

Having been on the receiving end of Virat’s mastery last night, Proteas leg-spinner Imran Tahir seems to have become a fresh addition in Kohli’s already enriched admirers list.

After the conclusion of first ODI, Tahir took to micro-blogging site Twitter and applauded the Indian captain by posting a picture and captioned it as: “Honour to play against you @imVkohli.”

Such is Kohli’s domination in One-Day International cricket that he now boasts 20 hundreds in chasing in which India have emerged victorious on 18 occasions. Moreover, the 29-year-old averages a mind-boggling 56.09 after 203 ODIs with 9142 runs. Besides, he is the only batsman on the planet to have an average of over 50 in the Twenty-20 format after 55 games.

During the recently concluded Test series against the Proteas, Kohli had also proved his mettle by scoring 286 runs at an average of 47.66. He was the highest run-scorer in the three-match Test series and was the only centurion from either side.
