Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan was left furious after a misunderstanding between him and skipper Virat Kohli cost him his wicket in the 1st ODI at Durban. It was only the second time Dhawan was run-out in his ODI career. Interestingly, both times Kohli was at the other end.
The southpaw was dismissed for 35 runs from 29 balls. The incident happened in the 13th over of India’s chase with Chris Morris bowling to Dhawan. The India opener was struck on the pads and as South Africa appealed for lbw, Dhawan was slowed down in his response to a Kohli’s shout for stealing a quick run. With Kohli more than halfway down the pitch, Dhawan had no choice but to run for it. He, however, gave up in the middle as Aiden Markram was spot on target.
The left-hander was upset with Kohli's push for the run. Later, Dhawan was also seen having a heated chat with batting coach Sanjay Bangar.
Twitter was quick to turn the dismissal into a joke content. Here is how the social media reacted:
Kohli sees Bhuvi & Rahane getting some form, decided to drop them for the next game. Kohli sees Dhawan racing towards a half century, runs him out. Kohli, the new age Greg Chappel. Shocking if true. ????

Kohli has time and again said Dhawan is his best friend, but never did we get a bigger proof than that. Your best friend doesn't give a shit what you have become in life. ????

Never saw Dhawan getting this angry after getting out. This is the FIRST time. Always smiles, doesn't matter if he's out for a duck. #INDvSA

Never seen Dhawan that animated. Even after a horrible drop or shot, he is usually smiling. Looks pissed off now
