South Africa received a major injury blow ahead of the 6-match ODI series in the form of AB de Villiers who has been ruled out of the first 3 matches with a finger injury. De Villiers was hit on his finger during the 3rd Test at Wanderers and will be out of action for upto two weeks. South Africa is hopeful of having him back for the 'Pink' ODI at Wanderers on February 10.

AB de Villiers recently made a comeback in Test cricket against India and scored crucial half-centuries at Cape Town and Centurion to help his side seal the series before they suffered a defeat on a tough pitch at Wanderers.

India and South Africa will begin the ODI series on February 1 at Kingsmead, Durban. India needs to win the series by a margin of 4-2 to topple South Africa from the top position in the ICC ODI Rankings.

India has some momentum on their side after winning the 3rd Test and will be looking to start well in the ODI series. Virat Kohli's team managed to win every single bilateral one-day series they played in 2017, and will hope to keep that streak going in South Africa.
