India will look to salvage some pride when they take on South Africa in the third and final Test at Johannesburg on Wednesday. India have lost the previous two Tests and trail 0-2 in the series. South Africa would aim for a whitewash and take revenge of the 0-3 loss to India in 2015. India’s playing XI has been questioned in both the Tests. Benching Ajinkya Rahane in place of Rohit Sharma was the biggest blunder India committed in the series. With the series in bag, South Africa may become complacent and lose the grip at Johannesburg. However, the best thing about them in the series has been their fighting spirit. India will look to make amends, but South Africa would go for the kill.

Best economical pick – Vernon Philander is the leading wicket-taker of the contest between the top two sides in whites. So far Philander has scalped 10 wickets at a jaw-dropping average of 14.60. He also put his batting skills on display in Centurion when it mattered the most and helped stretch the lead past 250 which eventually won his team the match and the series.

Top captains & vice captains – AB de Villiers is the best batsman of this series by a long way. Undoubtedly, he is the leading run-scorer in this series so far with 200 runs at a wonderful average of 50. Moreover, his knocks have been more of an impact which has turned the game in his team’s favor. Virat Kohli has played only one innings of substance but it is the best of the high-voltage series so far. He fought gamely for his team in the first innings and notched up his 21st Test century scoring almost half of the total of India. He is the only Indian batsman who looked comfortable in the middle and is only second best to de Villiers with 193 runs in 4 innings.

Smart pick – Dean Elgar has found his way to score runs so far despite struggling against the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and R Ashwin. It was his 61-run knock in the second innings which stretched the lead of South Africa and took the game away from India. So far Elgar has scored 117 runs in 4 outings and would love to score more in the dead rubber.

Cautious Pick – India have a few headaches about team combination ahead of the second Test against South Africa. India chose to go for in-from batsman in Rohit Sharma and dropped Ajinkya Rahane in the first Test. But Indian batsmen failed miserably at Cape Town, necessitating the needs for a change in the batting order.

My XI – AB de Villiers (Captain), Virat Kohli (Vice-Captain), Lungi Ngidi, Dean Elgar, Vernon Philander, Morne Morkel, A Markram, Parthiv Patel, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Hashim Amla
