Having conceded an unassailable 2-0 lead to the Proteas in the ongoing Test series, Team India will now look to salvage some pride in the third and final Test, slated to be played at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg from January 24. No wonder, visitors are sweating their heart out in the practice sessions.

However, the Indian camp didn’t look too pleased with the practice pitch dished up to the team at the Wanderers Stadium. As per the reports in CricketNext, India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar complained about the practice wickets to chief coach Ravi Shastri and subsequently, Shastri called on the chief curator Butuel Buthelezi and urged him to roll the wickets again.

Reports further suggest that Buthelezi had a chat with Shastri as the latter turned to Bangar and discussed about the things needs to be done. Bangar immediately said that all the three wickets should be rolled one by one as training continued on the even ones.

South African captain Faf du Plessis had publicly expressed his displeasure concerning the Centurion pitch, which was pretty much akin to the subcontinent. And now it seems that the Johannesburg curator is not willing to offend the Proteas skipper.

Even though India was at the receiving end having lost the first Test by 72 runs on a fast and bouncy Cape Town track, skipper Virat Kohli had said that there was nothing wrong with the pitch and visitors were just needed to form one or two partnership to cross the line.

“We needed, if not one big partnership, then every wicket adding 30-35 (which) would have done the job for us. We needed to show more character with the bat there is no question about it,” Kohli had said after the first Test.

"The mindset matters when you're traveling away from home on pitches which challenge you. Need to be positive in defence and when you're leaving also. You need to grab scoring opportunities,” he further added.
