Kepler Wessels – former South African skipper and current member of the commentary panel for the Freedom Series on Tuesday, has opined on the recent on-field ill-mannered behavior of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli during the ongoing second Test in Centurion.

Virat Kohli, who is known for his aggressive approach and wears his heart on his sleeve disappointed many with his inappropriate behavior during  Day 3 of the ongoing Centurion Test.

The 29-year-old was unhappy with the outfield conditions at SuperSport Park after the final session of third day’s play was affected by rain for almost an hour and went on to express the same to the on-field umpire. Although, the umpire estimated the conditions to be suitable for the play, which irked Indian skipper, who expressed his discontent by throwing the ball hard on the ground.

For his misconduct, the right-hander reprimanded by the ICC after found him to breach the Code of Conduct, and Wessels advised him that he should temper down his aggression a little bit.

According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Kepler Wessels said, “Every captain is entitled to question decisions and show the emotions. But one just needs to be careful of how you do it and when you do it.”

He signed off by saying, “Kohli went a little bit too far. This remains something to learn from. By and large, his passion and enthusiasm for the game is good and does good things for India. He just needs to assess it and temper down a little bit.”
