Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the remainder of the series after an upper left hamstring tendon injury during training on Thursday, January 11. The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor his progress.

BCCI has named Dinesh Karthik as his replacement for the third Test which starts in Johannesburg from January 24.

Parthiv Patel is included in the second and ongoing Test match in Centurion. He has been wobbly behind the stumps and did make some silly mistakes which allowed South Africa to dominate during the latter part of Day 3. He missed a straightforward chance of Dean Elgar when he knicked a ball from Bumrah.

Dinesh Karthik played his last Test as long as 8 years ago in 2010 against Bangladesh which India won.
