SA v IND 2018: Virat Kohli eclipses Sachin Tendulkar to become 4th fastest to 21 Test centuries

Kohli reached the feat in 109 innings as compared to Tendulkar's 110.

India skipper Virat Kohli was in full flow during the second day of the ongoing Test match against South Africa in Centurion. The 29-year-old finished the second day on 85 and completed his 21st Test ton in the first session of the third day.

With this memorable innings, Kohli (109 innings) surpassed his idol Sachin Tendulkar (110 innings) to become fourth fastest batsmen (in terms of innings) to amass 21 centuries. He stands only behind the Steve Smith (105 innings), Sunil Gavaskar (98 innings) and Don Bradman (56 innings).

Despite wickets falling all around him, Kohli kept his cool and batted with great composure to reach the three-figure mark. With this astonishing ton, Kohli also became the second Indian batsmen to register 2 Test tons on the South African soil. Only the legendary Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him with 5 Test tons in South Africa.

After the first session of day 3 at SuperSport park centurion, Kohli was still firm at the crease on 141*. India are currently trailing South Africa by 48 runs with two wickets in hand.
