Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has become the lastest in the long line of experts who have criticised the changes made in the Indian team for the second Test against South Africa. 

Gavaskar on Saturday suggested that opener Shikhar Dhawan's head is always on the chopping board and he thinks his one failure will lend him trouble ignoring the fact that he has scored runs before the South Africa tour.

Gavaskar said: "I think Shikhar Dhawan is the 'Bali ka Bakra' (scapegoat). His head is always on the chopping board. He just needs one bad innings and he is out of the team."

The former cricketer was also stunned by Bhuvneshwar Kumar's exclusion from the playing XI. Gavaskar said that it's clearly unfair for him to miss out despite performing so well in the first Test. He thinks if Indian skipper Virat Kohli really wanted Ishant Sharma to play, he should have replaced him with other available options. 

"I also don't understand why Ishant came in for Bhuvneshwar when he had taken three wickets on the opening day at Cape Town. Ishant could have replaced Shami or Bumrah but leaving him out, I don't understand." 

India made three changes to their playing XI, with KL Rahul replacing Dhawan and Ishant coming in for Bhuvneshwar and wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was ruled out due to a strain and Parthiv Patel was included in his place.

India suffered a 72-run loss in the first Test against South Africa at Cape Town. Kohli-led team India was bundled out on 135 in their second innings while chasing 208 to win the Test.
