South African pacer –Kagiso Rabada, who usually bowls as the first or the second change, on Wednesday, expressed his desire to open the bowling for his country, but he is very well aware of the fact that he would have to wait for it, as there are two very good bowlers in the Proteas current line-up to do it.

According to a report in Reuters, Rabada told reporters, “Our bowling attack is very skilled, as we have seen in the past and in the last game. It feels great to be playing alongside these veterans.”

The 22-year-old pacer further said, “I just bowl wherever the team wants me to bowl, but obviously I would like to open. It is very tough at the moment, though, because there are two very good bowlers doing that. I just like to do whatever the team requires me to do and set my own aspirations aside.”

After taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series, South Africa will lock horns against India in the second Test on 13 January at Centurion.

Rabada, who made his Test debut in 2015 against the same opposition –India, has taken 108 Test wickets at an average of 21.34 and has a career strike-rate of 39.2 and that states are better than the Proteas veterans Dale Steyn, Vernon Philander and Morne Morkel.

Recently, Rabada has become the No 1-ranked bowler in the ICC Test rankings with his stellar show in the Cape Town, where Captain Faf du Plessis used him as the fourth bowler despite his stunning record.

Many considered the 22-year-old as a special talent and believes he can still get quicker, while Rabada said, “I don't know how fast I can get. Sometimes I don't think the speed gun is telling the truth to be honest. I can feel when I'm bowling quick and when I'm not.”

He concluded by saying, “I need to do more, I am always striving for perfection, even though you will never reach it. There is always something else you can work on and that is what I have done in my career so far. There is always a problem!”
