Proteas pace sensation Kagiso Rabada has moved up a place to clinch to the top spot in ICC’s latest released Test rankings for bowlers. Rabada replaced England’s pace spearhead James Anderson from the pinnacle owing to his stellar show against India in the recently concluded Test match against India in Cape Town.

 The 22-year-old has dismissed 5 Indian batters at Newlands to help South Africa beat India by 72 runs. Consequently, the Proteas took a 1-0 lead in a three-match Test series. Among Rabada’s victims in the first innings were Rohit Sharma and the inform all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who scored a crucial 93 in the first innings.

In the second innings, Rabada once again got the prize scalp of Pandya besides claiming the wicket of India’s wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha. The Proteas speedster is currently on 888 rating points while Anderson is on 887.

India’s spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja (861) and Ravichandran Ashwin (830) are slotted at number 3 and 4 position respectively while Vernon Philander, who was adjudged Man of the Match in Cape Town for denting the India batting lineup with his 9-wicket haul, jumped six places to attain the sixth spot.

As far as the Test batting list is concerned – Australia skipper Smith is leading the table with a mammoth 947 rating points followed by England captain Joe Root (881). Indian captain Virat Kohli, who had a poor outing against the Proteas in the first Test at Cape Town, slipped one place to the third spot with 880 rating points whereas Kane Williamson (855) and Cheteshwar Pujara (848) are remain at No. 4 and 5 respectively.
