In a bizarre state of affairs, a 63-year-old man named ‘Babulal Berva’ from Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam has allegedly set himself on fire after Indian captain Virat Kohli’s dismal sow in the first innings of the opening Test between India and South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town.

Kohli was featuring in his very first international match post marriage and Babulal Berva had so much expectations from him. Unfortunately for Berva and many other Indian fans, Kohli was dismissed cheaply. Furious with the Indian captain’s poor performance, Babulal Berva then picked up a can of kerosene oil and poured it all over his face, as stated by the police.

It is learnt that the old man gone through nearly 50-60 % burns and is currently undergoing treatment under critical care. The victim is said to be a retired Railways employee.

The first day of the Cape Town Test was enthralling to say the least as it kept the fans on the edge of their seats. After winning the toss Proteas captain Faf du Plessis surprisingly opted to bat first on a seaming pitch where Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4 for 87) unleashed a havoc on the hosts.

After the South African batting crumbled on 286, it was time for the Indian top order to feel the heat of lethal Proteas pace attack. First Murali Vijay perished to Philander edging one to the slips and then Shikhar Dhawan followed soon as he became the first victim of Dale Steyn on his return to Test cricket.

There were plenty of expectations from the most reliable batsmen of Indian cricket in recent times – Virat Kohli. However, Kohli couldn’t last much long at the crease as he chased a delivery from Morkel Morkel and ended up a giving an easy catch to the keeper for 5. India finished the opening day on 28 for 3.

Hardik Pandya's brilliant 93 rescued a stuttering Indian side on day 2 of the match, the all-rounder came back to scalp two wickets when the visitors stepped into bowl in South Africa’s second innings. India were bundled out for 209 in the first innings and had conceded 77 runs lead. South Africa finished the second day on 65 for 2, having taken their overall lead to 142.
