Stunning bowling attack made things easy for South Africa to dismiss Zimbabwe, folding them inside two days by an innings and 121 runs in the Boxing Day Test in Port Elizabeth, although it was supposed to be a four-day Day/Night Test match.

South African seamer Morne Morkel, who made a spectacular return to international arena after recovering from a back injury that he sustained during the Bangladesh series, with a five-wicket haul against Zimbabwe, is happy to got some “mileage” in the legs, calling it a warm-up before facing number one ranked Test side –India at home next week in Cape Town.

The Proteas pacer went to further added that the last session of the day will be crucial for the South Africa against India, as he believes that if the hosts prevent India from scoring and succeed to pick up wickets in that time, then it will keep the hosts on good stead against Virat Kohli and his team in the Test series, starting with the first Test from 5 January at The Newlands Stadium.

As per Cricbuzz, Morkel said, “There was a bigger picture today and it was important for us to get overs under the belt and some mileage in the legs. For me, in the series coming up (against India), it’s going to be that last session in the day when the ball is soft and conditions are tough. In Cape Town the wind is going to blow, we know that, so for us, the best preparation today as a bowling unit was to enforce the follow-on and get the 10 wickets. Majority of the runs in Test cricket are scored after tea time. So for us, it's going to be if we have enough petrol in the tank to knock India over at the back end of the day.”

Morkel will also be accompanied by Kagiso Rabada and Dale Steyn, who was not part of the squad against Zimbabwe, is expected to play in Cape Town, in the South Africa fierce pace attack for India.

Commenting on Steyn, Morne concluded by saying, “(Dale) has been bowling exceptionally well in the nets. He looks strong, he is very fit, and I reckon he would have been a handful on this wicket. It’s another week for him to freshen up. It’s a big time ahead now. For me, it was nice to get wickets under my name so when it comes to selection, for guys to maybe think about me.”
