South African opener –Dean Elgar took an incredible catch on Sunday to dismiss the Australian skipper –Tim Paine during the ongoing fourth and the final Test at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

On Day 3 of the Johannesburg Test, Elgar, who was fielding at mid-off, grabbed a brilliant catch when Paine tried to hit a delivery from Keshav Maharaj, but found the edge.

Sprinting backwards Elgar kept his eyes on the ball and when it seemed that it was going away from him, the 30-year-old jumped into the air and grabbed the catch mid-air. Elgar's this catch was greatly appreciated by the spectators and described as the ‘catch of the series’.

With a 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series, the hosts are going into the fourth day leading by 401 runs with seven wickets in hand in the final Test, while they only need to draw in Johannesburg to beat Australia in a home series for the first time since 1969/70.

Meanwhile, the hosts have a fitness worry as their premier seamer –Morne Morkel, who is playing his last Test before retirement from international cricket, signing the Kolpak deal, was forced to leave the field for assessment with a muscle strain.

However, Morkel can return to the pitch in Australia’s second innings as the South African Management has said that he will try to continue bowling in the Johannesburg Test.

At Wanders Stadium, the hosts made a record as the batters made six half-century partnerships in their first innings against Australia. This is the first time in the history of cricket when South African batsmen made 6 half-century partnerships in an innings.
