Australia's tour of South Africa won't be forgotten for a long time as the controversies took hold of the series. After De Kock-Warner brawl and Kagiso Rabada's suspension (which was overturned later), sandpapergate is the new controversy to emerge.

Aussie fielder Cameron Bancroft was caught by television cameras trying to tamper the ball with tape. He hid the tape down his trousers when questioned by the umpires, who did not change the ball.

After being caught in the camera, Bancroft admitted ball-tampering and skipper Steve Smith revealed it was the idea of the team leadership.

"I saw an opportunity to potentially use some tape and get some granules from the rough patches on the wicket and I guess try to change the ball condition," said Bancroft

He further added, "It didn't work. The umpires didn't change the ball. Once I was sighted on the screen having done that I panicked quite a lot and that obviously resulted in me shoving [the tape] down my trousers."

Twitter was after the Australians after the controversy. While the cricketing fraternity criticized Bancroft, former India captain Virender Sehwag praised the cameraman for his brilliant work of capturing Aussies' bad deeds in camera.

Zotani Oscar, a number one cameraman from a South African TV channel, won the internet with his camera work.

"Gaur se Dekhiye is shaks ko. Oscar - the cameraman. Inke camera se bachna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai #SandpaperGate," Sehwag wrote.
