South Africa’s opening batsman Aiden Markram was in full flow during the third day of the third Test against Australia at Newlands, Cape Town. The right-hander made a fluent 84 with 10 boundaries and 2 sixes before being dismissed by left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc.

Amidst the reverse swing which the Aussie bowlers were extracting, Markram played some mesmerizing strokes which were a visual treat to the eyes. Even India skipper Virat Kohli, who is currently enjoying his rare time-off from cricket, couldn’t stop marvelling at the young batsman.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Kohli wrote: “Aiden Markram is a delight to watch!”

This is not the first time that the Indian captain had appreciated Markram. During the India-South Africa Test series in January, Kohli had consoled the 23-year-old for being dismissed on 94 in the first innings of the second Test at SuperSport Park, Centurion.

“He [Virat] came across and said, ‘Well played, you were unlucky to get out.’ It was a great touch from him. He is a massive competitor as everyone sees on the TV, but it’s great to see that he has got good values that people off the field might not see. It was a great gesture and it meant a lot,” Markram had said while addressing the media after the first day’s play in Centurion against India.

As far as the ongoing Cape Town Test between Australia and South Africa is concerned – the hosts are currently in a very commanding position, having taken a lead of 294 runs in the second innings. The Proteas still have five wickets in hand, with AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock playing on 51* and 29* respectively.
