South Africa would come hard in the second Test against Australia at Port Elizabeth beginning Friday to level the four-match Test series 1-1. Australia won the first Test by 118 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. However, the Test was marred by an ugly confrontation between David Warner and Quinton de Kock. It is certainly going to boil down to the cricket field again in the second Test. South Africa are a proud Test team and they would come hard at Australia in the second Test. They have always done well in distress.

Best economical pick – At the tender age of 23, Aiden Markram already has three Test cricket centuries, with his most recent ton coming against Australia on Sunday. Markram battled his way to an impressive 143 runs off 218 balls, while nearly everyone else around him crumbled. South Africans were certainly pleased with Markram's heroic efforts while chasing the enormous final-innings target of 417 despite the Proteas' eventual defeat, it looked for a long while as if the 23-year-old might against all expectations be driving his team to a draw, or even a win.

Top captains & vice captains – With the second-highest Test batting rating ever, a career average north of 63 and 23 Test centuries to his name the Australian captain Steven Smith scored a half century in the first innings and played a good knock in the second innings of first test. He will look to continue his good form in the 2nd test too. AB de Villiers scored a sparkling 71 not out on the second day as South Africa’s middle and lower order collapsed to leave the home side in a position from which they could never recover in the 118-run defeat. But unfortunately in the 2nd innings de Villiers got run out for a duck after a horror mix-up with Aiden Markram.

Smart pick – Mitchell Starc made the South African batsmen dance to his swing, pace and bounce as the Australian bagged nine wickets in the first Test at Durban. He played a key role in bowling out South Africa for 162 in the first innings. It shifted the balance in Australia’s favor. He will again pose challenges to the South African unit.

Cautious Pick – Batting has been troublesome for South Africa in last few series. It has been highly inconsistent. They were bowled out for just 162 in the first innings in Durban Test and paid the price for it. Hashim Amla is going through a poor run of form.

My XI – Steven Smith (Captain), AB de Villiers (Vice-Captain), Aiden Markram, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Vernon Philander, Dean Elgar, Tim Paine, Mitchell Starc, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja
