The highlight of the first Test between South Africa and Australia has been the ugly altercation between David Warner and Quinton de Kock. 

Dramatic video footage of that nasty spat emerged on Monday (March 5) in which Warner can be seen pointing and directing a verbal barrage at De Kock, before he was restrained and taken away by his teammates.

While Warner has accepted the charges by ICC against him, de Kock has decided to challenge them.  Warner was charged with a Level 2 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct – a sanction he accepted on Wednesday that saw him fined 75 percent of his match fee and handed three demerit points – de Kock was hit with a Level 1 breach.

A Level 1 breach carries with it a maximum of a 50 percent fine and two demerit points, half the amount of points needed to be suspended for either one Test or two limited-overs matches, whichever comes first. De Kock has opted to contest the charge will now front a hearing tonight in Port Elizabeth (local time).

Given the fact that Warner has accepted a sanction of three points, he is free to take part in the Port Elizabeth Test, scheduled to start on Friday (March 9).
