While Day 4 of the first Test between South Africa and Australia started with South Africa's quest for victory, the day ended on a rather bizarre note where two key players from both teams got into an ugly war of words. 

Fourth day’s play in the first Test was full of talking points with the expectedly heated series living up to its billing. De Villiers was run out for a duck in South Africa’s 417-run chase. At the close of play, South Africa were 293/9 with Australia needing just one wicket to clinch the victory. They did so after 17 minutes on Monday to clinch a 118 run victory.

Everything took a sudden turn with AB de Villiers' controversial run out including a distraction by Nathan Lyon. South Africa got disturbed by the whole situation. Then again at tea on the fourth day's play, Quinton de Kock said something against David Warner's wife which fired up the Australian so much so that he got into a heated argument which went out of control. 

“The Aussies were pretty fired up at that time pushing for a victory,” Smith told cricket.com.au in Durban. “But he (Lyon) is an experienced cricketer. I think he’ll probably say it was unnecessary himself. We’ve got used to Davey over the years. I think the less interest you take in him the better. He can be a bit of a fool at times. It’s best just to let him be,” Smith added. 

Australia eventually went onto win the first Test match in the very first session on the final day of the Test match. Mitchell Starc was awarded the Man of the Match for his fiery spell of bowling. He finished with 9 wickets in the match as Australia won the match by 118 runs.
