Ben Stokes slams Sanjay Manjrekar for his not so apt comments on his contribution to England win

Manjrekar had said that credit should have gone to the England spinners instead of Stokes.

Ben Stokes with the winner's trophy | GettyEngland whitewashed Sri Lanka in the three-match Test series recently and the team celebrated a much-deserved win. Everyone was in jovial mood as their spinners earned them a brilliant reward, while the batsmen made life easy for everyone else.

At the forefront was England spinners Jack Leach (18 wickets), Moeen Ali (18 wickets) and Adil Rashid (12 wickets) being the heroes with the ball. Ben Foakes top scored with 277 runs and Bairstow, Jennings and Root scored centuries too.

Ben Stokes played a crucial role with 187 runs and 5 wickets to his name in the Test series.

However, former India batsman and current cricket pundit Sanjay Manjrekar begged to differ on the role of Ben Stokes. He tweeted, “So you have these hard working chefs who have made a great dish. Someone comes and puts a little garnish on top and he gets all the credit. Moeen, Leach, Foakes are those poor chefs and Stokes the one with the garnish.

Manjrekar had opined that Stokes received a praise just because of his wickets in the last innings of the last Test when he helped blow the Sri Lankan batting away.

When a fan tagged Ben Stokes in his tweet with regards to Manjrekar’s comments, Stokes replied slamming Manjrekar for his words.

Stokes replied in kind saying, “We don’t care about personal credit, and garnish is pointless on all food anyways,we care about winning,it’s a team sport and we won as a team #3-0 Cheers Sanjay
