Sri Lankan off-spinner Akila Dananjaya is all set to miss the third and final Test against England starting from November 23 (Friday), as he has to depart for Brisbane to undergo an official bowling action assessment after being reported for suspect action during the Galle Test.

Following his bowling actions came under the scanner during the opening Tests at Galle, the reported off-spinner –Dananjaya consequently played in the second Test against England and even went on to register his career-best figures of 6 for 115 in the second innings at Pallekele.

According to International Cricket Council (ICC) rules, Dananjaya will have to undergo testing within the next 14 days of being reported for suspect action, however, he will be allowed to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the tests are known.

Sri Lanka head coach Chandika Hathurusingha told media at Pallekele on Sunday (November 18), “Unfortunately he's not available, because he has to go and do the testing within 14 days. He's going to Brisbane on the 20th or something, to do the test on the 23rd, so he's not available.”

However, England has already clinched the Test series by winning the second Test by 57 runs at the Pallekele International Stadium, but Dananjaya’s absence is a major blow for Sri Lanka in their quest of saving some pride at home in the Test series when they will play final at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground.
