Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Thursday (14 March) announced the 16-man squad for the three-match T20 International series against South Africa starting from 19 March in Cape Town.

Following their downfall of 0-4 in the ongoing five-match One Day International series, the Islanders have recalled Suranga Lakmal, while overlooked Dasun Shanaka for the T20I series in South Africa.

Lakmal has returned to the national side almost after a gap of 12 months as he played his last T20I in March last year while his last ODI appearance came in September last year.

Besides Lakmal, Jeffrey Vandersay, Sadeera Samarawickrama, and Asitha Fernando are among the others who have made their way to the Sri Lanka squad for the T20I series.

Noteworthy, the tourists have already lost all first ODIs to the Proteas side and are currently on the verge of a whitewash in the white-ball cricket ahead of the World Cup 2019 with the final will be playing on Saturday, 16 March at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
