South African opener Aiden Markram has insisted that he was not really bothered with the omission for the ongoing five-match One Day International series against Sri Lanka at home, saying the national selection is not in his hands but all he can do is keep scoring big runs.

Markram, who recently stitched a record List A partnership of 272 with Titans team-mate Farhaan Behardien, said his main is to win games for his domestic franchise at the moment.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Markram said, “As players, we can’t control selections. All we can control is the weight of big runs, and putting runs on the board. I’m trying to invest all my time and energy into the Titans team, and whatever happens from there, we just take it in our stride day by day.”

Meanwhile, the right-hander’s last ODI appearance came for South Africa against Australia in November last year, while he was called up in January, but he did not get a game against Pakistan. The 24-year-old has played 16 ODIs so far and averages 25.43.

Noteworthy, Markram has hit two hundred in three days during the domestic One Day Cup – on Friday 169 off 129 balls against Cape Cobras, 139 from 127 balls on Sunday.
