At the end of what has been a closely contested ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa, it was the hosts who came out at top in the fifth ODI at Newlands, Cape Town. While the momentum has been with Pakistan, South Africa bowled brilliantly, restricting Pakistan to just 240 in the fifty overs. South Africa’s run chase was always going to be tricky but at the end of the day, the Proteas batsmen took charge and steered the team home with ten overs to spare. But now with the ODI series over, the focus now shifts to the three-match T20I series which will begin when Pakistan face South Africa at the same venue on Friday.

Best economical pick – A player who has had a really good series so far, Andile Phehlukwayo has been exceptional for South Africa so far. While he has shined with the ball, he has also been pretty resourceful with the bat and could be a great player for your Fantasy Cricket team. Phehlukwayo is an impact player and makes it to our top five.

Top captains & vice captains – Player of the match in the last game against Pakistan, it looks like Quinton De Kock has hit form at the right time for the T20 series. De Kock scored a mature half-century where he laid the foundation for South Africa’s run chase. The Southpaw is a dangerous player if he gets going and it will all depend on the all-important early overs. Another player who had a quite tour but shined in the last game was Pakistan’s right-handed opener, Fakhar Zaman. While Imam-Ul-Haq has been turning it around for Pakistan, Zaman played a well-built 70 as he took Pakistan to a decent total. With the momentum currently on his side, we can certainly expect Zaman to make a difference in the first T20I at the same venue.

Smart pick – South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis is a utility player. While there may be someone who steals the spotlight, du Plessis has been very consistent for South Africa. Batting a little down the order, du Plessis reads the game very well and tunes his batting accordingly.

Cautions Pick – Shoaib Malik has surprisingly not had a great tour so far. He has only mustered 95 runs in the 5 match OD series. It will also be interesting to see if the added responsibility brings the best out of him. Malik and Hafeez are the vital cogs of this team.

My XI – Quinton de Kock (Captain), Fakhar Zaman (Vice-Captain), Faf du Plessis, Andile Phehlukwayo, Reeza Hendricks,Babar Azam, Beuran Hendricks, Tabraiz Shamsi, Junior Dala, Asif Ali, Mohammad Rizwan
