Pakistan made a late comeback in the ongoing third and final Test against South Africa, but their slight change in their planning made things easy for the touring side, as they brilliantly bowled the hosts out for 262 despite being at a strong position in the first innings at the Wanderers Stadium.

On Friday (January 11), the Proteas were looked in a great position in the opening day of the final Test, as they piled up 226/3 at tea, but after that they cheaply lost the wickets, scored only 44 runs and eventually bowed out for 262 and Pakistan fast-bowler Mohammad Amir credited their simple plan during the tea break for a dramatic South African collapse in Johannesburg.

While Amir and his new ball partner Mohammad Abbas bowled superbly after tea, gaining reverse swing and seldom bowling a loose delivery, picked up 2 wickets each, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf were also put a brilliant pressure on the Proteas batsmen, who ended with 2 and 3 respectively here to help Pakistan to return back in the game here in Johannesburg.

Amir told reporters after Day's play, “The first two sessions we didn’t bowl well. After that, we made a plan to bowl wicket to wicket and control the run rate.”

He added, “This wicket is far better (for batting) than the first two games but I always believe that when you stick to the basics, whether you are a bowler or a batsman, you can get the reward.”

However, South Africa also gave a shocker to the tourists, as Vernon Philander picked up two wickets off successive balls to put Men in Green back foot in the match, as they end the day at 17/2 at Wanderers.
