Dale Steyn got Fakhar Zaman out to become South Africa's highest wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket, surpassing Shaun Pollock's tally of 421 scalps and the 35-year-old says he couldn't help but feel overwhelmed at the astonishing achievement in that great moment.

The fast bowling legend was greeted with a huge round of applause from the packed crowd as teammate Kagiso Rabada hoisted him on shoulders before the whole Faf Du Plessis led side gathered around.

Test Cricket needs such memorable occasions.

"I won’t lie, when I was standing there at the top of my mark and everyone was standing up, I almost had a tear, I had a lump in my throat. Very pleased. Very happy," Steyn was quoted saying afterwards.

Steyn, once again, helped South Africa get off to a good start as the hosts eventually bowled Pakistan all out for a decent looking 181 in tough conditions on Day 1 of the iconic Boxing Day Test match at Centurion.

The visitors then fought back with a flurry of wickets before Themba Bavuma (38*) and Theunis de Bruyn(29) helped the hosts recover to 127/5 at the close of play with Steyn, the nightwatchman, himself batting on 13*.

Earlier on, right-arm pacer Duanne Olivier bowled a magnificent spell and return with amazing figures of 6/37.
