Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah said on Wednesday (November 28) that he does not know much about Clarrie Grimmett, but wants to shatter his long-standing record in the Test cricket.

However, Shah does not know much about Australian great Grimmett but has always his eyes on his 93-year-old record of being fastest to 200 wickets in 36 Tests and he has now a strong chance of shattering that record.

The 32-year-old now has 195 wickets in 32 Tests and he needs only five scalps to overtook Clarrie and become fastest ever to 200 wickets landmark in the traditional format of the game, and the star leg-spinner would be certainly targeting third and final Test on December 3 in Abu Dhabi after tormenting New Zealand in the second Test with devastating spell of 14 for 184 in Dubai.

Yasir told reporters, “Grimmett? I don't know much about him. He played so many years ago, but I know about the record because his name comes first whenever I see the list. I want to beat that record.”

With his Dubai figures, the leg-spinner equaled the record of former captain and current prime minister Imran Khan and his spell is the second-best ever for Pakistan in Tests after Imran’s 14-116 against Sri Lanka in Lahore in 1982.

He called it as an honor for him, saying: “I have equaled Imran Khan and that's a big honor for me. My name will come with his and that's great and I await his message.”

The star bowler also admitted that he was very tense with the loss of his mother just days before the New Zealand series, dedicating this feat to her.

Yasir signed off by saying, “It was tough coming here. I was very tense. You are nothing without your mother. When I used to go out for the match I would call her to pray for me to get five wickets and she would reply that 'why not 10 or 15, why just five? I would like to dedicate this feat to my mother.”
