Abu Dhabi witnessed one of the closest finishes in Test cricket, as New Zealand defeated Pakistan in the first Test by just 4 runs.

The game between Pakistan and New Zealand took a thrilling turn out of nowhere when Ajaz Patel started bothering the hosts. Chasing 176, Pakistan were 130/3 at one stage, but a sudden collapse made the game a cliffhanger.

Pakistan relied on Azhar Ali for a memorable win, but an LBW decision which turned against them put a full stop on their hope as Kiwis won the game by 4 runs.

The closest finish in a Test match was when the West Indies beat Australia by just a single run in 1993.

The win was special and so was the celebration. New Zealand team has some Indian origin players and they performed bhangra in the dressing room after the game.

Ajaz Patel, after an outstanding figure on debut, said, “For me, my gameplan was pretty simple. Obviously, the scoreboard didn't look too simple but we just kept plugging away. We as a unit believed that we could do something special and it all went our way. A lot of credit goes to the environment we have; it is a very relaxed environment we have and we look to keep things nice and simple. In terms of pressure on my debut, I have put in a lot of hard work and I felt like I was ready and just left the rest to the Almighty."
