Captain Kane Williamson rued the missed opportunities with small margins after New Zealand lost the second T20 International and three-match T20I series 2-0 to Pakistan in Dubai on Friday (November 2).

Williamson further went on to stress on the need to take little lessons from the way Pakistan is playing in the ongoing tour in the UAE, saying the Black Caps need to be a bit better all-round and keep improving after their 6-wicket defeat in Dubai.

However, the Kiwi skipper admitted that his team is improving but they need to make small steps of improvement and being more clinical to win matches against the big teams.

Williamson told reporters after Dubai T20I, “It's important to take little lessons from the way they're playing their cricket and we're not far away. It is about making those small steps of improvement, like coming in and out of our overs a little better, or being more clinical with the bat in certain areas.

He further went on to explain, “They are small margins, so it's important we look at the positive and we build on them. Pakistan are very clinical over here in these conditions and they've been consistent. They're setting the benchmark and we need to make those small steps.”

Williamson signed off by saying, “Pakistan have a clear pattern of play which they have executed in the last few matches here (at UAE). We weren't far away but need to keep improving, maybe we could have been a little better with the bat but it's important to be a bit better all-round.”
