With the latest shoulder injury, Jhye Richardson's World Cup 2019 hopes in doubt, as the Australian pacer was on Monday, 25 March, ruled out of the ongoing five-match One Day International series against Pakistan after dislocating his shoulder in the outfield during the second ODI in Sharjah.

The young pace sensation will have to return home from the UAE to determine the extent of a shoulder injury after dislocating his right shoulder while trying to save a boundary in the deep midwicket area on the fifth ball of the 11th over during the second ODI on Sunday (24 March).

After landing awkwardly on the outfield, the 22-year-old immediately asked for help and medical staff had to pop his shoulder back into place and will now fly home to Perth on Monday to undergo scans to assess the damage, while it is believed that it will be his first serious injury to the bowling shoulder.

Captain Aaron Finch told media after the second ODI, “He's in good spirits. His shoulder popped out a little bit. Unfortunate for the youngster. He'll get home, have some scans and assess the damage.”

While Usman Khawaja said of Richardson, “It's horrible to see. It makes your stomach sink. You feel for him. He put his body on the line, trying to save a boundary. He was bowling beautifully. But he's a good kid, I'm sure he's going to come back much stronger whenever he does. Hopefully - fingers crossed - it's all good. It (Richardson's shoulder) went back in pretty easily, so that's always a good sign.”

Richardson's injury that is to his bowling arm could be a serious alarm for Australia selectors over their fast-bowling plans the World Cup 2019, especially with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood still injured, as they need to announce the squad by April 23.
