PAK v AUS 2018: Aaron Finch takes responsibility of Australia's humiliating defeat in first T20I

Skipper Finch says it was his job to give a good start in a chase which he failed.

Aaron Finch took responsibility as Australia was bundled out for 89 runs | dailytelegraph.com.auAustralia had a pitiful and forgettable start to their T20I series against Pakistan where they suffered a humiliating defeat. The Aaron Finch led side was bowled out on just 89 runs, their third lowest in T20.

Australia was chasing a target of 156 and they lost their first six wickets in just 22 runs. It was a disastrous start and we could have seen Australia getting bowled out much earlier had Nathan Coulter Nile not added some runs.

Pakistan won the game by 89 runs at Abu Dhabi and skipper Finch couldn't forget the bad memory of powerplay which worked like a poison.

"That Powerplay was horrific...it was like a car crash in slow motion," Finch said at the post-match press conference. "Opening the batting, it's my responsibility to get us off to a good start and set up the chase there

"I take full responsibility for that. I think any time that you're chasing a total like that it's important you have a solid start and for me to get out in the first over and not give us that was not good enough," he added.

Australian bowlers were praised by Finch as they managed to bowl out Pakistan from 105/1 to 155 all out. "Absolutely they'll be looking at changes," Finch said. "I think, all in all, our bowling performance was pretty good. Our fielding was slightly sloppy, then the batting was awful. Definitely when that happens, when you lose a game so badly, you have to look at everything."

Australia will look to fight back in the second T20I after a really pathetic performance in the first game.
