PAK v AUS 2018: Peter Siddle added to the Australian T20I squad

It’s just a bit of management of Mitchell Starc, says Finch.

Veteran Australian paceman Peter Siddle has been recalled for the upcoming T20 International series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday (October 17).

Australia added Siddle to the T20I squad after pace spearhead Mitchell Starc is in doubt for the remainder of the second Test and T20I series after suffering from hamstring tightness while bowling on Day 2 of the ongoing second and final Test against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi.

Having initially bowled four overs in Pakistan's second innings, Starc didn't bowl at all in the final session of Day 2, though he returned to the field after spending some time off the ground, as the left-arm has only fielded in the slips at Abu Dhabi.

Opener Aaron Finch said of Starc on Thursday, “It’s just a bit of management of Mitch. Obviously, the conditions are pretty hot, so trying to look after the fast bowler. As far as I know, he is (okay). He bowled with enough pace today.”

However, Australia is confident that Starc will be able to play in the remainder of the second Test match, but still his availability in doubt for the upcoming T20 campaign, which forced them to name his pace partner Siddle to the squad for the three-match T20I series against Australia.

Having played only two T20Is for Australia, with last turned for his country almost eight years ago, it will be a great opportunity for Siddle to add more to his small tally of T20I appearances.
