Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan on Saturday (March 17) expressed his disappointment over the series of incidents that resulted in broken glass panels in the visiting team’s pavilion at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The Shakib Al Hasan led Bangladesh side had defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in a knockout clash on Friday (March 16), but the game was spoiled by heated exchanges between both sets of players in a dramatic final over. In fact, the game was temporarily halted as Shakib threatened to take his players off when the on-field umpires didn’t deem the two shoulder height deliveries as no-ball. Following the match, the episode of broken glass got added to the already controversial match.

"Sri Lanka Cricket have contacted our board regarding the matter [broken glass door in the dressing room. Our CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury had informed me about it through phone," Nazmul quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

"When I went there was broken glass lying in the dressing room. But the situation was such that we could not find out in detail why and who have done that. We will try to find it out.

"Probably it is done by anyone from our team. Considering our recent standings in the world cricket it is surely not acceptable," he added.

After the tense scenes and the ugly altercations, Shakib was penalized 25 percent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council while the substitute Nurul Hasan was fined a similar amount. Both the players earned a demerit point as well.

The BCB chief also clarified that their relationship with SLC won’t be dictated by this incident. The two Asian nations often play against each other and in the process they have developed a strong association.

"I don't think such an incident can make any impact as far as our relationship with SLC is concerned because it is very strong. The SLC president and everyone congratulated us after the win," Nazmul Hasan concluded.
