It’s a virtual semis now. Hosts Sri Lanka will go all out against Bangladesh in the final league match in Nidahas Trophy at Colombo on Friday to seal a title round with India. Bangladesh have beaten Sri Lanka in a record chase in the last match and would be confident to beat the islanders again. Hosts Sri Lanka will be under pressure to win and book a berth in the final in front of home crowd. Bangladesh would take a lot of confidence from the win against Sri Lanka in the record chase. Sri Lanka would come hard at Bangladesh to salvage pride in front of home fans. In addition, the return of Shakib-Al-Hasan also ensures a much stronger Bangladesh side. The Lakanks, on the other hand, will have the home advantage on their side as Thisara Perera aims to secure his first victory as Sri Lankan captain.

Best economical pick – Akila Dhanajaya was one of the few positives against the Indians. Especially, with the ball doing as much as it did against the Indians. The youngster is also very good at varying his pace and challenging the batsman with some impressive wrist-spin, something that has been making the rounds in recent times.

Top captains & vice captains – Mushfiqur Rahim played an absolute blinder in the previous game to help their side clinch a massive win. Once again, it was that man at the nucleus of the innings. Although he wasn’t getting great support, he went about his business with grace. Mushfiqur Rahim became the 3rd Bangladesh player to score fifties in consecutive T20I innings after Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal. Rahim scored unbeaten 72 in this game and also against Sri Lanka in the previous game. While Kusal Perera has been bagging all the limelight thus far, Kusal Mendis can be equally threatening. Mendis, in the previous T20I assignment of Sri Lanka in Bangladesh, has hit two consecutive fifties. Also, in the previous match against Bangladesh, he had scored a brisk 57 off just 30 deliveries.

Smart pick – It would seem as though the king has returned to command his army and at a time when it is very important, to say the least. In fact, Shakib Al Hasan return may well prove to be the deciding factor that spurs Bangladesh into the final of the Nidahas Trophy.

Cautious Pick – Sabbir Rahman would be under tremendous pressure to perform. The hard-hitting veteran batsman is yet to put up an innings of substance in the series.

My XI – Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Kusal Mendis (Vice-Captain), Akila Dhanajaya, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Rubel Hossain, Nuwan Pradeep, Kusal Perera, Mahmudullah, Danushka Gunathilaka
