Indian batsman KL Rahul achieved an undesirable record in the fourth T20I match of the Nidahas Trophy against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium on Monday. He became first Indian batsman to get dismissed hit wicket in Twenty20 Internationals.
Looking for a single in the 10th over, Rahul went too deep within the crease to tuck the ball away, however his leg made contact with the stumps. Rahul and Manish Pandey added 23 runs for the fourth wicket before the dismissal. Talking about stats, only nine players before had got out by hit-wicket in T20Is.
Earlier in the day after rain reduced the match to 19 overs per side and Rohit Sharma elected to bowl, medium pacer Shardul Thakur picked up a career-best 4/27, including back-to-back wickets in the last over, to help India restrict the hosts to 152/9. The visitors chased down the target with 6 wickets and 15 balls spare.
Twitter did it's thing and turned Rahul's dismissal into a meme.
