Nidahas Trophy is wide open with Bangladesh winning the last match against Sri Lanka with a record chase. Now, all three teams have two points each after the first set of league matches. From now, winning every game is important for each of the teams. Sri Lanka would look to keep the past behind when they take on India. India will come hard at Sri Lanka after losing to them in the last clash. Sri Lanka have the home conditions and fan support to motivate them to do well. But India would come hard at Sri Lanka after losing the last clash against them.

Best economical pick – Indian all-rounder Vijay Shankar has arguably been the biggest positive for the Indian team in the series thus far. Team India has certainly found a very able all-rounder in Vijay Shankar. In the second game against Bangladesh, Vijay Shankar performed a notch better and was one of the top performers for the team on the day. He picked up the two big wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah in the match.

Top captains & vice captains – India have the best opening pair in T20 cricket. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan can tear apart any bowling attack on their day. Shikhar Dhawan is in great form in T20 cricket, slamming two fifties back to back. The perfect example of a modern-day T20 batsman cannot be any further than Kusal Perera. The southpaw began the Nidahas Trophy with some stupendous batting, something that ensured that the bowlers do take notice of him. Against the Bangladeshi side, Perera once again made fireworks with the bat, something that makes him a ‘hitman’ of sorts for the bowlers.

Smart pick – Kusal Mendis has been in a tremendous form in the last couple of months. Ever since he made a marathon ton in a Test fixture in Bangladesh a month ago, his willow has been shining bright for the Sri Lankan team. Mendis, in the previous T20I assignment of Sri Lanka in Bangladesh, has hit two consecutive fifties. Also, in the previous match against Bangladesh, he had scored a brisk 57 off just 30 deliveries.

Cautious Pick – Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been in a terrible form but owing to the fact that he is leading the side, he certainly fits the list. He would be hoping to lead the team from the front and end his dry run with the bat.

My XI – Shikhar Dhawan (Captain), Kusal Perera (Vice-Captain), Kusal Mendis, Vijay Shankar, Danushka Gunathilaka, Yuzvendra Chahal,Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat, Thisara Perera, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik
